Dog Accessories and Outfits

One of the most popular purchases for dogs these days is doggy outfits and wearable accessories, such as bandanas. So many people are purchasing dog accessories, in fact, that the market is growing into the millions of dollars.

You can purchase doggy outfits at just about any pet store or specialty store. You can also find doggy outfits online. Outfits generally come in three sizes – small, medium and large. Specialty shops, however, will make doggy outfits to fit the exact size of your pet.

Doggy outfits are popular ways to celebrate the seasons, such as Christmas, Easter and Halloween. Many people also purchase doggy outfits in the color of their schools. Some even come complete with school mascots on them.

If you are handy with a sewing machine, then you might want to consider making your own doggy bandanas. To do so, all you need is about a square foot and a half of fabric in any color or style. Cut the bandana diagonally into a triangle. Meter or hem all of the edges so that the fabric is not frayed and will not come apart.

Next, sew in a simple string that will tie around the dog’s neck. If you have a large dog, you can make a large bandana. Smaller dogs should have smaller bandanas so that they do not get caught or in the way. If you have more then one dog, then you might enjoy making matching colors to suit each pet.

Some enthusiastic pet owners like to dress their dogs up especially for events such as family photos. If you are the type, then have a seamstress make a matching outfit to yours. The matching outfit will be cute and will help to make your dog look like part of the family.

Finally, many dog owners are not sure how the dog outfits should fit their pets. You want it to be comfortable, yet, naturally, doggy outfits are not going to be comfortable from the beginning, since they are not natural to the dog’s environment. Your dog outfit should be snug, but not so tight that it is difficult for your dog to move around.

You should be able to fit a finger in between your doggy outfit and your dog’s body without much of a problem when trying doggy outfits on. If your dog at any time appears to be uncomfortable in his outfit, simply remove it and try a different size.
